JMI Vice-Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad, in office since May 15, 2014, was the chief guest at the event. He is the 14th vice-chancellor of JMI.
Guests of honour at the event included UP Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Kamal Akhtar, Ex Member of Parliament and Ex-President of JMI Student Union Kunwar Danish Ali, Secretary General of Janta Dal (Secular) and Jamia Alumnus R K Singh (Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy), Lt. Colonel Hafizullah Khan Janbaz (author of National Defense Academy / Combined Defence Services competition books and Law of Auqaf and social worker from Jabalpur, MP), President DPS-MIS Qatar Hasan AK Chogulle, Saatco Group Managing Director Mohd. Sabih Bukhari, Invest Advise Company, Noida Founder and CEO Sachin Gupta.
After introductory remarks by renowned poet and JMI alumnus Aziz Nabil, the event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Qari Abdullah Abdulwais.
Najmul Hasan Khan, Chaudhry Farhat Hussain, Dilshad Ahmad, Mohammed Ahmad and Mohsin Anwar Naqvi and their families presented the 'Tarana' of Jamia.
After the 'Tarana', a welcome speech was given by Najmul Hasan Khan, founder of JMI Alumni Association Qatar. Mementos and gifts were presented to Prof Talat Ahmad, Kamal Akhtar, Kunwar Danish Ali, RK Singh and Lt Colonel Hafizullah Khan Janbaz.
Birla Public School Principal AK Shrivastava was given an award for his contribution in the field of education. He also spoke on the occassion. Mirza Athar Zia received a memento in recognition of services to the field of Urdu Literature. Social services mementoes was given to Abdul Muqtadir Khan, Sachin Gupta, Nitin Garg, Salim Kidwai, World Trade Center - Noida, Sunworld - Greater Noida, India and National Exchange Co. WLL, Doha. The award was received by Jamal Mohammad Khan.
Law of Auqaf, a book authored by Lt Colonel Hafizullah Khan Janbaz, was launched on the occasion.
Shubhranshu Garg, representative of World Trade Center, Noida, spoke about the role of the corporate world in community services. Lt Colonel Hafizullah Khan Janbaz, M Sabih Bukhari, Hasan A K Chogule R K Singh, Kunwar Danish Ali, Kamal Akhtar and Prof Talat Ahmad congratulated Najmul Hasan for celebrating the event in such a big way.
Prof Talat Ahmad thanked him for organising the event. He said many programmes were in the pipeline to further improve the standards of the university.
He said that he was happy to learn that Indians were playing an important role in the development and construction of Qatar. He also said that JMI Alumni are playing a very important role in promoting the JMI mission and their plan is to launch a Global Alumni programme through which all alumni will be connected through the Internet. He said the JMI has received a number of accolades from the government.
A poetry symposium was held where Athar Azmi, Ashfaque Deshmukh, Ahmad Ashfaque, Aziz Nabil, Nadeem Mahir and Mohammad Tahir Jamil presented their poetry.
Guests from Dubai were Parvez Akram Siddiqui and Masood Raza (Bobby) while guests from India included Nawaz Khan Chaudhary, Shikhar Organisation for Social Development CEO Nadeem Akhtar and Mohd Shaqib Beg.
Prominent among those who attended the event from Doha were Indian Embassy Third Secretary Dr Mohammad Aleem, National Exchange WLL General Manager Jamal Mohammad Khan and Radio Qatar Urdu Service Producer and Presenter Obaid Tahir and Syed Abdul Hye.
Mohammad Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
